A COLLECTION OF ART IN MOTION

When you rent with Cartis, you can choose from a selection of exceptional vintage cars, all designed by the greatest minds of the automobile world. Each of our classic models reflects the expertise of the 1950s and 60s, a period wherein both passion for design and performance vied to be the best. Each model is utterly unique, unlike any other, standing out both for its aesthetics and for its feel when driving. So, step aboard and experience the inimitable scent of the luxury leather interior and the pleasant roar of the engine.

Upon purchase, we work to restore or repair each newly acquired model, calling in renowned experts in classic car maintenance. These skilled workers opt to repair rather than replace original parts, wherever possible, in order to preserve the original patina that constitutes the soul and history of Cartis vehicles. Our goal is to optimise the overall reliability of each car and improve our carbon footprint, all while preserving its original condition. For instance, we choose to replace the existing ignition system with an electronic version in an effort to reduce CO2 emissions. By renting a car from the Cartis collection, you can experience the automotive art of the 1950s and 60s all while respecting the environment.

THE ART OF LIVING OF THE 1950S AND 1960S

With the emergence of new trends in art, music, writing, and visual and automotive design, the post-WWII period known in France as the “Thirty Glorious Years” saw a great surge in creativity. The models of the Cartis collection were an integral part of the artistic trends of the 1950s and 60s, contributing to the image of the eminent individuals who drove and owned them. Symbols of elegance and glamour, they represented a desire for freedom, travel and discovery, not forgetting a touch of carefree attitude in the case of icons such as Brigitte Bardot.

With her tousled hair, her minimalist outfits, her nonchalant air, her wild side and, indeed, her rebellious nature—as she strode barefoot into restaurants—Brigitte Bardot embodied the true art of living of the 50s and 60s. As Françoise Sagan said at the time, “A carefree nature only feeling that can inspire our life, without the need for arguments to defend itself.”

Rent a car from the Cartis collection and discover the 1950s and 60s art of living.
